Tropism reflects the most recent years of Thomas Humery's photographic work. Published in black and white, these photographs taken mostly in Los Angeles and New York City but also in Germany, Norway, Sweden and France are connected to each other by subtle links, giving the whole set of pictures a very peculiar atmostphere made of mystery and cinematic reminiscences. The book highlights an emotional level before an understanding and seems to describe a phenomenon of attraction both valid for the models and the photographer.

Tropism reflète les dernières années de productions photographiques de Thomas Humery. Publié en noir et blanc, ces images pour la plupart prises entre Los Angeles et New York mais également en Allemagne, en Norvège, en Suède et en France sont connectées entre elles par des liens subtils donnant à l'ensemble une atmosphère particulière faite de mystère et de réminiscences cinématographiques. Le livre semble privilégier un niveau de lecture émotionnel plutôt qu' une explication rationnelle et s'attache à décrire un phénomène d'attraction, d'attirance et de réactions, le tropisme, autant valide pour les modèles photographiés que pour le photographe lui même.
